Erected by the Catholic Monarchs to commemorate the battle of Toro (1476), the general layout of the construction is the work of Juan Guas and is one of the best sets of Hispanic-Flemish Gothic.

The church has a single nave and side chapels between the buttresses, highlighting the abundant decoration that adorns the cruise and the main chapel. In the latter, the decorative scheme is based on ogee arches and shields of the Catholic Monarchs supported by eagles.

The choir is located high at the foot of the ship. The cruise is covered by an octagonal dome over profusely decorated tubes. The pentagonal head is covered with a ribbed vault.

Of special interest is its cloister; in its lower part it has an abundant decoration of reliefs with vegetal motifs, fantastic animals and human representations, as well as a good number of sculptures of bulk.

In its lower part it is covered by a strip with inscriptions related to the Catholic Monarchs.
