The museum is located in the Synagogue of the Transit or Synagogue of Samuel ha - Levi, considered the most beautiful medieval synagogue preserved in the world.

The permanent exhibition aims to publicize the history of the Jews in Spain, their arrival in the Iberian Peninsula in Roman times, their age of cultural gold during the Middle Ages, their expulsion by the Catholic Monarchs in 1492, the phenomenon of conversion and his persecution for the Inquisition.

The expository script goes to the present, focusing on the exile and development of Sephardic communities around the world.
